Rotary Knife or Reciprocating Knife? This Choice Matters More Than Speed
Rotary knife cuts with a continuous rotary motion — fast and simple, but the contact time is short, so sealing quality is slightly lower and film compatibility is narrower. It cannot reliably cut pure aluminum film or paper film. Choose rotary for standard OPP/CPP films on medium-speed lines where film cost is low.
Reciprocating knife moves vertically with the product, giving longer contact time and greater cutting force. It handles pure aluminum film, aluminum-coated film and paper film — the right choice for high-barrier packaging, premium products and any film that is hard to cut cleanly. Choosing the Right Machine: Product Size, Speed and Feeding
1. Product dimensions. YC420 wraps bags up to L500 × W160 × H50 mm; YC600W goes to L500 × W280 × H140 mm. Measure the largest product and add 5–10 mm clearance. Roll film width ranges 80–400 mm on the YC420 and 120–600 mm on the YC600W — this must cover your product plus seal allowance.
2. Speed. YC420 runs 30–120 packs/min; YC600W 30–150 packs/min, depending on product size and film. If you exceed 150 packs/min or need 24/7 continuous operation, we engineer multi-lane or high-speed configurations on request.
3. Feeding. A tail stock (infeed conveyor) aligns products automatically before they enter the film tube — required for sticky, soft or irregular items like cakes and sausages. The YC600W also integrates with automatic collating lines for fully hands-off feeding. Manual feeding is fine for low-volume specialty products but becomes the bottleneck above ~60 packs/min.
4. Film and color mark. All models support OPP, PVC, OPP/CPP, KOP/CPP and aluminum-coated films, with high-sensitivity electric-eye color mark tracking so print registration stays accurate. The YC600W’s dual paper-roll holder splices film automatically — no line stop at roll change.
5. Bag appearance. Add the corner-tucking device on end seals for a shaped, premium finish. Servo set-and-cut bag length means no empty-run adjustment — change bag length on the touchscreen and the machine recalculates instantly.
