QINGDAO, China — SunAura Machinery has successfully commissioned a four-lane pillow packaging line for an Indonesian snack producer based in Bandung, West Java. The installation, completed last week, brings the customer’s total output to 240 pouches per minute for its flagship cassava chip and instant noodle seasoning products.

For a second recent commissioning story, see how SunAura delivered a fully automatic edible oil filling, capping and labeling line for a Middle East bottling facility — including the commissioning lessons on oil viscosity and bottle quality.
The Customer’s Challenge
The Bandung-based producer had been running three manual packaging stations, each staffed by six workers per shift. Demand for its cassava chip line had grown 35% year-over-year, and the company was turning down export orders to Malaysia and Singapore because it couldn’t pack fast enough. The existing setup also had a 4.2% film-reject rate due to inconsistent manual sealing.
After evaluating equipment from three Chinese suppliers, the customer chose SunAura primarily because our engineering team provided a complete line layout — not just individual machine quotes. The buyer told us later that other suppliers sent per-machine prices without explaining how the equipment would actually connect.
What Was Installed
| Equipment | Quantity | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Servo pillow packaging machine | 4 lanes | Flow-wrap cassava chips and seasoning sachets |
| 14-head multihead weigher | 2 units | Accurate weighing for multi-packs |
| Automatic case erector | 1 unit | Forming RSC shipping cases |
| Gantry palletizer | 1 unit | Stacking finished pallets for warehouse |
| Modular conveyor system | 38 meters | Connecting all stations on one HMI |
Results After First Week

Within the first week of production, the customer reported measurable improvements:
- Output: Up from 180 to 240 pouches per minute — a 33% increase on the same floor space
- Headcount: Reduced from 18 to 7 operators across two shifts. The customer redeployed the remaining staff to quality control and new product packing
- Reject rate: Film rejects dropped from 4.2% to under 0.8% within five days of commissioning
- OEE: Sustained at 89% over the first week, including the learning curve
The customer’s operations director noted that the single HMI was the biggest surprise. “We expected to need two or three people managing different machines,” he said. “Instead, one operator watches the line from one screen, and the rest of the team handles material loading.”
Why Southeast Asia Is a Growth Market for SunAura
Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand are seeing a wave of food producers modernizing from manual to automated packaging. Labor costs in the region have risen 8–12% annually over the past three years, and the new generation of factory owners — many educated abroad — is more comfortable investing in servo-driven equipment than their parents were. Our turnkey line solutions, with Spanish/Indonesian HMI language options and remote diagnostics, are well-suited to this market.
SunAura will be exhibiting at Propak Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City in November, and a Propak Indonesia follow-up is under discussion for 2027. Southeast Asian buyers planning factory expansions are encouraged to contact us through the contact page ahead of those shows.
Planning a packaging line for your Southeast Asian facility? SunAura engineers can help you scope a line that fits your floor space, voltage and language requirements. Send us your product, target output and existing floor-plan through the contact form — we’ll provide a preliminary layout and quotation within 48 hours. Existing customers in the region can request support through the after-sales service portal.
More case studies from our Southeast Asian deliveries — including a Vietnamese coffee producer and a Thai frozen food plant — will be added to the news section and solutions gallery over the coming weeks.
