Compact horizontal orbital wrapping machine for long products: pipes, tubes, profiles, lumber, aluminum extrusions. Wraps L1000-1500mm × W100-300mm × H100-300mm, 20-30 pieces/hour. 0-60rpm rotary ring, 100kg conveyor capacity. Compact 1200×800×1200mm footprint.
Overview
The PW-HS1500 is our compact horizontal orbital wrapping machine, designed for wrapping long, narrow products such as pipes, tubes, metal profiles, lumber, aluminum extrusions, curtain rods and similar items. The product passes horizontally through a rotating ring that applies stretch film in a spiral pattern along the entire length of the product, providing complete protection for storage and transport.
Accommodates products from 1000-1500mm in length, 100-300mm in width and 100-300mm in height, with a throughput of 20-30 pieces per hour. The rotary ring spins at 0-60rpm with variable speed control, and the conveyor system supports products up to 100kg. The compact main unit footprint of just 1200×800mm makes this machine ideal for facilities with limited floor space.
The horizontal spiral wrapping pattern conforms tightly to long products, preventing shifting and damage during transit. The machine can be integrated with infeed and outfeed conveyors for semi-automatic operation. Ideal for pipe manufacturers, aluminum extruders, lumber yards and metal profile producers. CE certified, with optional extended length, custom conveyor and inkjet printer integration available.

Understanding the Wrapping Process
Step-by-step operation for consistent results.
Load Product onto Conveyor
Place the long or cylindrical product onto the infeed conveyor. The small horizontal wrapper handles products up to 1500mm diameter and 6000mm length, with custom sizes available. The conveyor automatically centers the product for consistent wrapping.
Product Enters Wrapping Ring
The conveyor transports the product through the horizontal wrapping ring. Photo-eye sensors detect the product dimensions and automatically adjust the wrapping ring and film tension. No manual adjustment needed for different product sizes within the capacity range.
Ring Positions & Film Attaches
The horizontal wrapping ring positions around the product. The film tail is automatically attached to the product using a mechanical clamp system. For irregular products, the operator may manually assist with initial film attachment. The system verifies film attachment before starting the wrapping cycle.
Horizontal Spiral Wrapping
As the product moves through the ring horizontally, the ring rotates around the product, applying stretch film in a spiral pattern. The conveyor speed and ring rotation speed are synchronized to create a consistent, overlapping wrap pattern. Film tension is precisely controlled to prevent product deformation.
Film Cut & Product Exits
Once the product has passed through the wrapping ring and the entire length is covered, the film is automatically cut and clamped for the next cycle. The conveyor discharges the wrapped product to the outfeed station. The system is immediately ready for the next product, achieving 10-20 products/hour depending on length.
How to Choose the Right Horizontal Wrapping Machine Small
Key factors for your specific operation.
| Factor | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Product Size Range | Standard up to 1500mm diameter, 6000mm length. Custom sizes available for longer or wider products. Measure your largest product before ordering. |
| Product Type | Designed for long, cylindrical, or rectangular products. Ideal for timber, steel bars, pipes, and similar items. Not suitable for standard pallets (use pallet wrappers instead). |
| Throughput | Rated 10-20 products/hour depending on product length and wrapping program. For higher volumes, consider faster conveyor speeds or multiple machines. |
| Film Type | Uses 500mm wide machine-grade stretch film (17-25 micron). Pre-stretch ratio up to 200%. Film consumption varies by product size, typically 20-60g per product. |
| Automation Level | Semi-automatic standard (manual loading, automatic wrapping). Fully automatic conveyor-fed version available for inline production with upstream/downstream equipment integration. |
| Floor Space | Footprint approximately 8000×2500mm including infeed/outfeed conveyor. Requires adequate ceiling height of 2500mm minimum. Custom conveyor lengths available. |
Expert Selection Tips

Common Troubleshooting
Symptom: Wrapping ring does not rotate
Cause: Drive motor overload, VFD fault, drive belt broken, or safety guard interlock triggered.
Solution: Check VFD display for error code. Reset motor overload. Inspect drive belt. Verify all safety guards closed. Check ring bearing for seizure. Contact support if VFD error persists.
Symptom: Film breaks during wrapping
Cause: Film tension too high, film quality poor, pre-stretch ratio too high, or sharp edges on product.
Solution: Reduce film tension setting. Verify film is machine-grade 17-25 micron. Lower pre-stretch ratio. Check product for sharp edges or burrs. Apply corner protection. Verify film roll feeds freely. Check film carriage alignment.
Symptom: Product not centered in wrapping ring
Cause: Centering mechanism faulty, conveyor misaligned, or sensor calibration off.
Solution: Check centering mechanism operation. Verify conveyor alignment. Calibrate photo-eye sensors. Check product guide rails. Clean sensor lenses. Adjust centering parameters in PLC.
Symptom: Wrapped product has loose or uneven film
Cause: Insufficient wrapping tension, conveyor/ring speed mismatch, or film not properly pre-stretched.
Solution: Increase film tension setting. Verify conveyor speed and ring rotation are synchronized. Check pre-stretch carriage functioning. Ensure product moves at consistent speed. Verify film roll loaded properly. Adjust overlap settings in PLC.
