Motorized Telescopic Roller Conveyor
The SunAura motorized telescopic roller conveyor is a powered extendable boom with chain-driven rollers — for high-volume truck and container loading where gravity alone is too slow or too weak. Each 2–3 stage section carries its own 0.75–1.5kW motor, so cartons are driven up slight inclines and through long reaches at a steady 0–20m/min. CE-certified and factory-direct.
Product Description
The SunAura motorized telescopic roller conveyor is the high-throughput version of the loading boom. Instead of relying on gravity, every roller in the 2–3 stage nested boom is driven by a chain and sprocket off a dedicated 0.75–1.5kW motor per section. That means cartons are pushed through the boom at a controlled 0–20m/min regardless of slope — you can run the conveyor level, up a shallow incline, or even against a slightly rising truck floor, and the carton still moves at the rate you set.
This is the workhorse for e-commerce fulfillment, parcel distribution and busy docks where a gravity boom would be the bottleneck. It collapses to about 2.5m and extends to 6–10m, reaching deep into a standard trailer. Φ50/60mm heavy-duty rollers carry up to 50kg per meter, and the whole unit sits on heavy-duty casters so it can be wheeled between dock doors. Adjustable height covers 700–1300mm to match a wide range of truck and container floors.
Every powered section completes a 48-hour run test in our Qingdao factory before shipment. We customize extended length, roller diameter, motor voltage and control voltage to match your dock and load.

Key Features & Benefits
- Powered chain-driven rollers: A dedicated 0.75–1.5kW motor per section drives every roller via chain — no reliance on gravity, no stalling on level or rising truck floors.
- 0–20 m/min variable speed: Match the loading rate to your packing station so cartons flow at exactly the rate the trailer can be filled.
- Reaches 6–10m extended: 2–3 stage boom collapses to just 2.5m and reaches deep into standard trailers and containers.
- 50 kg/m heavy load rating: Heavier cartons and denser loads that would stall a gravity boom are driven through reliably.
- Works on level or slight incline: Because the rollers are powered, you are not forced to run a steep decline — safer carton control and less risk of runaway.
- Heavy-duty casters: Wheeled base lets one operator move the powered boom between dock doors; brakes lock it in position during loading.
- Adjustable height 700–1300mm: Matches van, truck and container floor heights without a separate dock leveler.
- 48-hour run tested: Every motorized section is loaded and run continuously for 48 hours in our factory before shipment.
Application Industries
High-Volume Parcel Loading
Daily truckloads of parcels move fast on the powered boom — far faster than a gravity unit can keep up with.
E-commerce Fulfillment
Peak-season order volumes demand powered, continuous loading — the boom keeps up with high-speed packing benches.
Distribution Center Docks
Fixed or mobile docks use the powered boom to feed trailers from sortation conveyors at a steady rate.
Container Loading with Heavy Cartons
Dense, heavy cartons that would stall gravity rollers are driven through by the 0.75–1.5kW per-section motor.
Reverse Logistics
Powered direction reversal lets the boom unload returning goods from the trailer back to the warehouse floor.
Product compatibility: Rigid cartons, parcels and totes up to 50kg/m. For very low volume or one-truck-a-day docks, the unpowered telescopic gravity conveyor is a more economical choice.
How the Motorized Telescopic Conveyor Works
Unlike the gravity version, this boom actively drives the carton along every extended section:
- Position and extend. The operator wheels the powered boom to the dock, locks the casters, and telescopes the boom out to reach the load point inside the trailer.
- Powered rollers drive each section. A dedicated 0.75–1.5kW motor per nested section drives a chain and sprocket line that rotates every Φ50/60mm roller in that section.
- Carton enters at the dock end. An operator or upstream packing line places the carton on the rollers at the dock end; the powered bed carries it forward.
- Carton transfers between stages. Because every stage is powered at the same variable speed, the carton rolls smoothly from the dock section through each extended stage to the trailer end — no slope required.
- Speed controlled throughout. The 0–20m/min drive is tuned to the packing rate; reverse mode lets the same boom unload goods out of the trailer.
Is This the Right Conveyor for You?
This motorized telescopic conveyor is the right fit if your operation matches all four of the following. If you fall outside any of them, our team can recommend the gravity version or another SunAura conveyor:
- High daily truck or container volume: If you load multiple trailers a day, the powered boom pays back in labor saved. If you load one or two trucks a week, the gravity version is cheaper and sufficient.
- Cartons up to 50kg/m: The powered drive handles heavier cartons that gravity cannot. Beyond 50kg/m you would need a dedicated heavy-duty chain plate system.
- You need controlled speed or reverse unloading: Powered rollers let you set an exact line speed and reverse direction for unloading. Gravity booms only go downhill, one direction.
- You have power at the dock: This unit needs a 220V or 380V supply. If your dock has no power nearby and you cannot run a cable, choose the unpowered gravity telescopic instead.
Troubleshooting Guide — Common Issues & Solutions
A powered telescopic boom combines the issues of a motorized conveyor with those of an extending boom. Below are the most common problems we diagnose remotely. Always lock out power before inspecting the drive chain.
| Problem | Possible Causes | Solutions |
|---|---|---|
| Boom won’t extend / retract | Locking levers engaged; inner boom rollers binding; caster brakes locked; debris between stages. |
|
| Some rollers not turning on extended sections | Drive chain off a sprocket in an extended stage; chain coupling disengaged; sheared roller pin. |
|
| Motor overload trips mid-loading | Carton overload beyond 50kg/m; chain tension too tight; rollers seized; supply voltage low. |
|
| Cartons bunch up at the boom tip | Loading rate faster than conveyor speed; speed set too low; operator inside the trailer not keeping up. |
|
| Boom sags when fully extended | Too far extended for load; support legs not down; locking pins not engaged. |

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from the gravity telescopic conveyor?
The gravity version relies on a downhill slope and free-spinning rollers — no motor. This motorized version drives every roller with a chain and per-section motor, so it works on level ground, can push heavier cartons, and can reverse to unload. It costs more but pays back quickly on high-volume docks.
How far can it extend?
Standard units collapse to about 2.5m and extend to 6–10m depending on the 2-stage or 3-stage configuration. For very long containers we can configure a 3-stage unit with more reach. Tell us the trailer length you load most often and we will specify the right extended length.
Can it unload trucks as well as load?
Yes. Because the rollers are motor-driven, the conveyor direction is reversible. The same boom that pushes cartons into the trailer can pull them out onto the warehouse floor — useful for returns and reverse logistics.
What power supply does it need?
We build to your local supply — 220V single-phase or 380V three-phase, 50 or 60Hz. Motors range from 0.75 to 1.5kW per section. Tell us your country and dock power when you request a quote.
What is the warranty and lead time?
Standard motorized telescopic booms ship in 20–30 days; custom extended lengths take longer. Every powered section carries a 12-month warranty covering parts and labor, plus lifetime support. Spare motors, chains and rollers are dispatched worldwide within 48 hours.
