Product Description

The SunAura 90 degree turning roller conveyor is a motorized curved section that rotates the flow of cartons and boxes through a quarter turn without stopping or rotating each item by hand. Instead of straight cylindrical rollers, the curve uses tapered conical rollers. Because the roller surface speeds up from the inner radius to the outer radius, the carton naturally sweeps around the bend and exits on the perpendicular line — keeping its orientation and speed. This is how production lines wrap around a case sealer, a palletizer or a structural column without extra operators.

The standard unit turns exactly 90 degrees with an inner radius from 300 to 600mm, chosen to suit your smallest carton width. A 0.37kW gear-motor drives the tapered roller bed at 0–12m/min on a 30kg/m load rating. For tight corners or slippery cartons, we offer an optional pneumatic side push mechanism with a 50mm-bore cylinder that gives the carton a positive nudge as it enters the curve, preventing it from stalling or riding the inside rail. Widths of 300–600mm are built to order.

How the 90 Degree Turn Conveyor Works

A curved roller conveyor turns product using geometry rather than a turntable. Tapered rollers give different surface speeds across the width of the curve:

  1. Carton enters from the straight section. The motorized curve receives the carton at the same height and speed as the incoming straight roller conveyor.
  2. Tapered rollers drive the sweep. Each conical roller is longer on the outer radius than the inner. Because the outer edge of the roller travels farther in one revolution, it moves faster — exactly matching the longer outer path around the bend.
  3. Optional pneumatic pusher assists. For light or slippery cartons, a pneumatic cylinder briefly pushes the carton inward as it enters, preventing it from riding the outer rail and stalling.
  4. Carton exits at 90 degrees. The carton leaves the curve heading perpendicularly, with its orientation preserved, and transfers onto the next straight section.
  5. Speed stays matched throughout. The 0.37kW drive holds a constant 0–12m/min through the turn so product doesn’t bunch up or gap out on either side.

  1. You need a 90-degree product direction change: If your line must bend around a corner, this is the direct solution. For gentle U-turns or multi-product sortation we can discuss chain-plate curves instead.
  2. Rigid cartons, not bottles or loose items: Tapered rollers need a flat, rigid carton bottom to sweep cleanly. Bottles, jars and loose parts need a belt or chain-plate conveyor.
  3. Load up to 30kg/m: This curve is rated for light-to-medium carton flow. Heavier loads over 30kg/m should use our heavy-duty 90-degree chain plate system.
  4. You can accept a 300–600mm inner radius: The radius sets how much floor the corner needs. If your corner is tighter than 300mm inner radius, we will discuss alternative transfer methods rather than force an undersized curve.

Curved conveyors are more sensitive to setup than straight lines because the geometry has to match your carton. Below are the most common problems we diagnose remotely. Always lock out power before inspecting the drive or roller bed.

    How do you choose the inner radius for the curve?

    The rule of thumb is that the inner radius should be at least half the width of your widest carton. We offer 300, 450 and 600mm inner radii. Smaller radii suit narrow cartons; larger radii give big cartons a gentler, more stable sweep. Send us your carton dimensions and we recommend the radius.

    Do I need the pneumatic side pusher?

    It depends. Rigid, textured-bottom cartons usually sweep around a tapered roller curve on their own. Light, slippery, or glossy-bottom cartons tend to stall or ride the outer rail — for those, the pneumatic pusher is strongly recommended. We can also fit it later if you find you need it after installation.

    Can it turn the other direction (left instead of right)?

    Yes. We build the curve to turn clockwise or counter-clockwise depending on your layout. Tell us the incoming and outgoing directions on a simple sketch and we will build the correct hand.

    How does it connect to my existing straight conveyor?
