Flexible Skate Wheel Conveyor | Expandable Portable Conveyor

Flexible Skate Wheel Conveyor

The SunAura flexible skate wheel conveyor is an expandable, bendable free-flow conveyor made of ABS plastic skate wheels on a powder-coated steel frame. It stretches from 1–2m out to 3–10m, flexes into curves up to 90 degrees, and rolls on casters wherever you need temporary carton flow. No motor — just point it, slope it, and let cartons roll. CE-compliant and factory-direct.

Product Description

The SunAura flexible skate wheel conveyor is the most adaptable conveyor we sell. Instead of fixed rollers, it uses rows of small ABS plastic skate wheels (about Φ48mm) mounted on transverse steel axles. The frame is built from linked hinge joints, so the whole section can stretch, contract and bend. When you need it, you pull it out to 3–10m and bend it around obstacles; when you are done, you collapse it back to 1–2m and wheel it aside. It is the conveyor for layouts that change every day.

Because it is unpowered, you set a gentle decline (the adjustable legs cover 550–850mm) and cartons roll by gravity over the free-spinning plastic wheels. Load capacity is 25kg per meter, which covers most standard e-commerce and shipping cartons. The whole unit sits on caster wheels, so one person can move it between packing benches, dock doors or event floors. It can form gentle curves up to 90 degrees — enough to route around a pillar, through a doorway, or into a truck trailer.

Skate wheel conveyors are the workhorse of temporary and seasonal logistics: peak-season e-commerce packing, trade-show logistics, retail backroom restocking, and any place where a fixed conveyor would be in the way tomorrow.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Stretches and contracts: Collapses to 1–2m for storage and extends to 3–10m when you need it — one conveyor adapts to many jobs.
  • Bends up to 90 degrees: Linked hinge joints let the path curve around pillars, through doorways and around corners without a dedicated turn module.
  • ABS plastic skate wheels: Lightweight, quiet, free-spinning Φ48mm plastic wheels roll cartons smoothly without scratching box bottoms.
  • Unpowered gravity flow: No motor, no cord, no power supply — just set the decline and let cartons roll.
  • Mobile on casters: The whole unit rolls between dock doors, packing benches or rooms; lock the brakes once in position.
  • Adjustable height 550–850mm: Tune the decline angle to match your carton weight and loading height.
  • 25 kg/m light-duty rating: Perfect for standard shipping cartons, e-commerce parcels and retail boxes — not for heavy pallets.
  • Instant deployment: Unfold, extend, set height, start loading — no installation, no electrician, no civil works.

Application Industries

Temporary Loading / Unloading

Spans from dock to truck for a shift, then rolls away when the truck leaves — no fixed dock installation.

Warehouse Flexible Routing

Adapts to whatever temporary path operators need that day — around pallets, through aisles, to the packing bench.

E-commerce Packing

Peak-season order fulfillment uses the flexible path to connect packing benches to a waiting trailer.

Retail Backroom

Restocks shelves from back-of-store deliveries without staff carrying boxes across the sales floor.

Event Logistics

Trade shows, concerts and exhibitions — bring it in, set up a temporary carton flow, break it down and leave.

Product compatibility: Rigid, flat-bottomed cartons and e-commerce parcels up to 25kg/m. Heavy cartons or pallets need a motorized or heavy-duty gravity conveyor.

How the Flexible Skate Wheel Conveyor Works

The flexible frame bends and stretches while the plastic wheels let cartons roll by gravity:

  1. Unfold and extend. Start with the conveyor collapsed to 1–2m. Pull the linked sections apart until the path reaches from the load point to the unload point.
  2. Bend to fit the layout. The hinge joints let you curve the path up to 90 degrees around obstacles in the room.
  3. Set the decline. Adjust the support legs so the load end sits 1–5 degrees higher than the unload end.
  4. Cartons roll on the skate wheels. An operator places a carton on the high end; rows of free-spinning ABS wheels carry it forward over the curved path.
  5. Collapse and park. When the job is done, push the sections back together, release the caster brakes, and wheel the unit to storage.

Is This the Right Conveyor for You?

This flexible skate wheel conveyor is the right fit if your operation matches all four of the following. If you fall outside any of them, our team can recommend a fixed SunAura conveyor:

  1. Your layout changes or is temporary: If you need a conveyor one day, in a different place the next, this is the product. If you need a fixed line for years, a fixed motorized conveyor is more durable.
  2. Light cartons up to 25kg/m: Skate wheels are light-duty. Heavy cartons should use a roller or motorized conveyor.
  3. You can run it on a decline: Like all gravity conveyors, it needs a slope. If your path runs level or uphill, you need a powered conveyor.
  4. You want instant, no-install flow: No power, no brackets, no civil works. If you need high-volume continuous loading, step up to the motorized telescopic conveyor.

Troubleshooting Guide — Common Issues & Solutions

Flexible skate wheel conveyors are simple but the hinges, wheels and casters all take abuse. Below are the most common issues and fixes.

ProblemPossible CausesSolutions
Cartons won’t roll / stallDecline too shallow; skate wheels dirty; carton bottom too flexible; curve too tight.
  • Increase the decline to 2–3 degrees by raising the load end.
  • Wipe the ABS wheels clean of tape and dust.
  • Use rigid cartons — soft bags won’t roll on skate wheels.
  • Straighten tight curves; sharper bends slow cartons to a stop.
Section won’t extend / retractHinge joints dirty or stiff; lock pins engaged; debris between sections; caster brakes locked.
  • Release any locking levers on the sections.
  • Unlock caster brakes so the unit can float as you pull.
  • Clear carton or debris caught between the hinge sections.
  • Lubricate hinge pivots with a light dry lubricant.
Cartons veer sidewaysFrame not level side-to-side; bend too sharp; one support leg shorter than others.
  • Level the frame across the width with adjustable legs.
  • Soften any sharp curves.
  • Adjust each caster/support leg so all feet sit flat.
Skate wheels break or crackOverload beyond 25kg/m; sharp carton edges; impact loading; age.
  • Reduce load to within the 25kg/m rating.
  • Replace cracked or missing ABS wheels with spares.
  • Set cartons down gently rather than dropping them on the wheels.
Caster won’t roll or wobblesCaster brake still on; caster fork bent; debris in caster swivel; loose mounting bolt.
  • Release the caster brakes before moving the unit.
  • Clear hair, tape and dust from the caster swivel.
  • Tighten the caster mounting bolt; replace bent fork.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it extend?

Standard units contract to 1–2m and extend to 3–10m depending on the model. Tell us the distance you need to bridge and we will supply the right expanded length.

Does it need power?

No. This is a fully unpowered gravity conveyor — no motor, no plug, no wiring. It works anywhere, including outdoors or in areas without power. The only thing it needs is a slight downward slope.

How sharp a curve can it make?

The hinge joints let it form gentle curves up to about 90 degrees. Very tight turns will make cartons jam or slow to a stop — for those, use a dedicated 90-degree turning roller conveyor instead.

How much does it hold?

Rated at 25kg per meter. That covers standard e-commerce cartons and shipping boxes. Heavy cartons over that weight should move on a steel roller or motorized conveyor.

What is the lead time and warranty?

Standard flexible skate wheel conveyors ship in 10–15 days. The frame and wheels carry a 12-month warranty, plus lifetime support. Spare skate wheels and casters are dispatched worldwide within 48 hours.
