Top Press Pallet Wrapper
Turntable pallet wrapper with pneumatic/electric top press for stabilizing light, tall and unstable loads. Wraps 20-30 pallets/hour, 2000kg capacity, 0-14rpm variable speed. Prevents load shift and product damage during wrapping.
Overview
The PW-TP1650 is our turntable pallet wrapper equipped with a pneumatic or electric top press mechanism, specifically designed for facilities that wrap light, tall or unstable loads that would otherwise shift or topple during the wrapping cycle. The top press plate descends onto the load, holding it firmly in place while the turntable rotates.
The Ø1650mm reinforced steel turntable handles loads up to 2000kg, with a variable-frequency drive providing smooth 0-14rpm rotation — faster than the standard model for higher throughput. The top press is available in pneumatic (compressed air) or electric (motor-driven) configurations, with adjustable pressure to match your load sensitivity.
Ideal for bags, boxes with slippery surfaces, tall narrow pallets, and products that tend to shift during transport. The pre-stretch film carriage stretches film up to 250%, reducing film consumption by 40-60% compared to hand wrapping. CE certified, with optional loading ramp and extended mast available.

Automated Inline Wrapping Process
Seamlessly integrates with your conveyor line for uninterrupted production flow.
Place Unstable Pallet on Turntable
Position the pallet with lightweight or unstable load centrally on the Ø1650mm turntable. The 2000kg capacity turntable handles both light and moderately heavy loads. Ensure load height is within 2000-3000mm range.
Lower Top Press Plate
Activate the top press mechanism (pneumatic or electric option). The press plate descends and applies gentle, consistent pressure to the top of the load, stabilizing it for wrapping. Pressure is adjustable based on load sensitivity.
Attach Film & Start Wrapping
Attach the stretch film tail to the load corner. Press start on the control panel. The turntable begins rotating at 0-14rpm with soft start/stop. The top press maintains constant pressure throughout the wrapping cycle.
Automated Wrapping with Top Stabilization
The film carriage moves up and down, wrapping the entire stabilized load. Because the load is held firmly, there is no shifting or telescoping, even for very light or unstable products. Pre-stretch film carriage reduces film usage by up to 250%.
Raise Press Plate & Remove Pallet
Once the wrapping program completes, the machine automatically cuts the film. The top press plate raises to its home position. The stabilized, neatly wrapped pallet can be removed with a forklift. The entire cycle takes 20-30 seconds per pallet.
Selecting the Right Top Press Pallet Wrapper
Key decision factors to ensure optimal fit for your production line.
| Factor | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Load Stability Requirement | Essential for loads weighing less than 500kg or with high center of gravity. For stable, heavy loads (>1000kg), standard PW-T1650 may be sufficient. |
| Top Press Type | Pneumatic top press for facilities with compressed air (6 bar minimum). Electric top press for facilities without air supply or for precise pressure control. |
| Load Height Range | Standard wrapping height 2000-3000mm. Custom mast heights available for taller loads. Minimum load height 500mm for effective top press. |
| Pressure Sensitivity | Adjustable pressure from 50-500kg. For very delicate products (glass, ceramics), use lower pressure settings. For building materials, higher pressure provides better stabilization. |
| Throughput | 20-30 pallets/hour, similar to standard semi-automatic. The top press cycle adds 5-10 seconds per pallet. For higher throughput, consider online top press models. |
| Floor Space | Footprint 2700×1650mm (similar to standard model). Requires additional 500mm clearance above mast for top press mechanism. Ceiling height minimum 3500mm. |
Expert Advice
- Always test top press pressure on your actual products before full production — too much pressure can damage delicate goods
- For very light loads (<200kg), consider adding a non-slip mat on turntable for extra grip
- Pneumatic top press requires consistent 6 bar air pressure — install a pressure regulator and gauge
- Electric top press is recommended for clean room environments where compressed air contamination is a concern
- Top press plate should be covered with non-marking material to prevent damage to top product layer
- Train operators to inspect load height before wrapping — loads exceeding max height can damage top press mechanism

Troubleshooting Guide
Symptom: Top press plate does not descend
Cause: Pneumatic pressure insufficient, solenoid valve faulty, limit switch triggered, or electric motor overload (if electric type).
Solution: Check pneumatic pressure gauge (minimum 6 bar). Inspect solenoid valve operation. Check upper/lower limit switches for proper activation. Reset motor overload if electric type. Verify guide posts are not obstructed. Check air lines for leaks or kinks.
Symptom: Load still shifts despite top press
Cause: Insufficient press pressure, press plate too small for load, load too tall for effective pressure, or press plate surface too smooth.
Solution: Increase press pressure setting gradually (do not exceed product load limit). Verify press plate covers at least 60% of load top surface. Check load height is within effective range. Add non-slip rubber mat to press plate surface. Ensure load is properly centered on turntable.
Symptom: Top press plate descends too quickly or forcefully
Cause: Pneumatic flow control valve misadjusted, pressure setting too high, or cushioning cylinder faulty.
Solution: Adjust pneumatic flow control valve for slower descent. Reduce pressure setting to appropriate level for product type. Inspect cushioning cylinder for proper operation. Add deceleration ramp in PLC settings if available. Train operators to use correct pressure presets for different products.
Symptom: Press plate does not return to home position
Cause: Upper limit switch faulty, pneumatic cylinder not retracting fully, or guide post binding.
Solution: Check upper limit switch activation and signal. Inspect pneumatic cylinder for full retraction. Clean and lubricate guide posts. Check for obstructions in guide post path. Verify return spring tension (if spring-return type). Check solenoid valve for proper exhaust.
